MonoLithos Inn is perched at the highest point of the Lower Town settlement within the Castle of Monemvasia, right where the famous “Voltes” begin—the grand, winding cobbled path that connects the Lower with the Upper Town of the Castle.
Thanks to its location and orientation, all of our rooms—with their private balconies—offer a unique, uninterrupted view of the endless blue of the Myrtoan Sea, a panoramic vista of the entire Lower Town, the Castle Walls, and the dramatic, imposing Rock crowned with the ruins of the Upper Town.
The “Hidden City” within the Castle of Monemvasia was founded in 583 AD and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited fortified towns in Europe, having never been completely abandoned through the centuries. Its enchanting landscape, rich history, distinctive architecture, and cultural heritage make Monemvasia truly one of a kind.
As you pass through the main Gate of the Castle, each step feels like entering a new stage set—as if you are the protagonist in a historical film. Exploring and staying in this remarkable place is a once-in-a-lifetime experience—one that is truly worth living.
